BRO CORNER: JOHN CROOM

From pros to weekend warriors, our mission at XX2i Optics is to outfit athletes with afforable, reliable, and high-quality eyewear. Each month we will showcase one of our “BRO” athletes who is an amateur competitor doing amazing things on and off the race course. Learn about this month’s star, John Croom, below:

"I am 23 years old and I am about to finish my 4th season as a road and track cyclist. In 2012, I decided to start racing after watching Elite US Track Nationals in my home town of Rock Hill, SC and watching the Winter European 6 days (Madison track races) on live stream. It wasn't as easy as just buying a bike and racing...weighing 300 pounds I had some life changes I needed to make for this whole racing thing to happen. The bike changed my life completely and began a whole new life style for me. Currently, I weigh 205 pounds. This year was the first year I began to start traveling internationally and it came with a bit of success, along with starting my first professional 6 day event at Fiorenzuola with American 6 day rider Guy East from Hope Sports. I believe this is only the beginning, as my long term goal is to become a National Champion on the track along with possibly making the Olympic squad for 2020 in Tokyo. I am super excited to become apart of the XX2i family and rock my new favorite racing shades, the France2, and my casual Bermuda1 glasses."
